If you messaged a business that uses WATSLI, that business controls your data, and it is usually quickest to ask the business first. See section 10 of the Privacy Policy.
What can be deleted
- An entire WATSLI company account and its eligible associated data.
- One or more conversations belonging to the company.
- An individual message or identified set of messages.
- Eligible personal data associated with a particular WhatsApp phone number within the company's records.
- Requests do not automatically include data held independently by Meta, another messaging provider, or another business. Certain financial, security and legally required records may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
Who can ask
- A company administrator: requests are made only from inside the app, after signing in at app.watsli.com, for the company they manage.
- A customer of a company that uses WATSLI: the company controls your data, so contact it directly. WATSLI acts as its processor and coordinates with it where needed.
- WATSLI will not process a deletion request against data belonging to an unrelated company or individual without appropriate authorization or a lawful basis.
How we verify your identity
- We verify that the request comes from the registered company administrator's signed-in account, and we email a confirmation to that administrator when the request is received.
- A request to delete the entire company account requires an additional explicit confirmation inside the app, because it cannot be undone.
- We may ask for information needed to identify the correct conversation or message, and will request only what is reasonably necessary for verification.
Timeline
- We aim to acknowledge requests promptly and ordinarily within 72 hours after sufficient information has been received to identify and verify the requester.
- For eligible requests, we aim to complete deletion from active WATSLI systems within 30 days of verification and any required authorization, subject to applicable law and legitimate exceptions.
- If additional information, consultation with the relevant business or more time is reasonably required, we will explain the reason and provide an updated timeframe.
- After completion, we will provide written confirmation identifying the scope of deletion and any retained data categories or backup exceptions.
Exceptions
- We may decline, restrict or postpone a deletion request where deletion would affect data belonging to another individual or an unrelated company without authorization, conflict with an applicable legal obligation or valid preservation requirement, interfere with an ongoing legal claim, dispute, fraud investigation or security incident where retention is lawful and necessary, or require us to delete financial or other records that must lawfully be retained.
- We will explain the applicable reason where lawful and appropriate.
Backups
- When an eligible deletion request is completed, the relevant data is removed from active WATSLI systems or otherwise restricted as appropriate.
- Encrypted backup copies may continue to contain the data until the backups expire under our rotation schedule, currently no longer than 90 days if that schedule is in operation.
- Backup copies are not used for routine access. Where a backup is restored, previously completed deletion instructions will be reapplied as appropriate.
- Our deletion confirmation will distinguish between deletion from active systems and the expiry of any remaining backup copies.
How to make a request
There is no public form. A company administrator makes the request inside the app: sign in at app.watsli.com, then open Settings, then Data deletion.
Open the appWe will review your request, verify your identity and authorization, and coordinate with the relevant company where required. No data will be deleted solely because a request was submitted. For privacy questions, contact hello@watsli.com.
